History of the Band
Daylesford & District Pipes and Drums has been a proud part of the Daylesford community for over 20 years.
The band frequently performs at community celebrations and commemorative events across the Hepburn Shire, including Scottish Gatherings and various occasions throughout the Central Highlands region.
We are dedicated to the preservation of piping and drumming, performing both traditional and modern pipe band music.
Daylesford & District Pipes & Drums Incorporated was formed in 2004 following a community meeting and is subsequently one of the newer community-based pipe bands in rural Victoria.
We are proud to have participated in Pipe Band competitions and have received various awards and honours over the years. The band is currently registered to compete in Grade 4B.
Community Involvement
The band plays an integral role in community life, regularly appearing at major local cultural, memorial, celebrations and fundraising events including:
ANZAC Day Commemorations – Joining our local community paying tribute with music for the Daylesford march down Vincent Street.
Daylesford Highland Gathering – Participating in street marches, performances, and ceremonies at this celebration of Scottish heritage.
Daylesford New Year’s Eve Parade – Performing as part of the town's festive gala, march and leading a community singalong of Auld Lang Syne at the conclusion
Regional Cultural Concerts – Showcasing traditional music at multicultural and heritage festivals.
Through these events and their weekly rehearsals at the Masonic Hall, the band continues to serve as a cultural cornerstone, bringing people together through music, history, and shared pride in community.
